Early Career

Izzuddin’s career began to take shape in January 2017 when he and Goh Sze Fei reached their first Grand Prix Gold final at the Malaysia Masters. Although they finished as runners-up, this achievement marked the beginning of a promising partnership.

Breakthrough in 2022

The year 2022 proved to be a turning point for Izzuddin. In March, he and Goh secured their first BWF World Tour title at the German Open, defeating China’s Liu Yuchen and Ou Xuanyi in a thrilling three-game match. The following week, they advanced to their second consecutive final at the Swiss Open but were defeated by the Indonesian duo Fajar Alfian and Muhammad Rian Ardianto.

In April, Izzuddin and Goh reached the semi-finals of the Badminton Asia Championships, where they lost to compatriots Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik, earning a bronze medal. Later in December, Izzuddin claimed the Malaysia International title, this time partnering with Muhammad Haikal.

Challenges and Reunion in 2023

The start of 2023 brought challenges for Izzuddin and Goh. After a series of disappointing results, the pair decided to part ways in January, citing a lack of connection and trust. However, their separation was short-lived. By the end of May, they reunited, setting aside their differences to pursue a spot at the 2024 Summer Olympics.

In March, Izzuddin, now paired with Muhammad Haikal, reached the final of the Ruichang China Masters but fell to China’s Chen Boyang and Liu Yi. After reuniting with Goh, the duo made a strong comeback at the 2023 U.S. Open in July, winning the title by defeating Lee Fang-chih and Lee Fang-jen of Chinese Taipei.

A Stellar 2024 Season

The 2024 season was a landmark year for Izzuddin and Goh. In December, they finished as runners-up at the BWF World Tour Finals, losing to Denmark’s Kim Astrup and Anders Skaarup Rasmussen in a hard-fought match. Despite the loss, their performance elevated them to world number 3, the highest ranking of their careers. This achievement also made them Malaysia’s top men’s doubles pair, surpassing Olympic bronze medalists Aaron Chia and Soh Wooi Yik. Additionally, they became the first Malaysian men’s doubles pair to reach the final of the BWF World Tour Finals since its inception in 2018.

Continued Success in 2025

Izzuddin and Goh carried their momentum into 2025, securing their first India Open title on January 19. They defeated the Korean pair Seo Seung-jae and Kim Won-ho in a three-set thriller, marking their first title of the year and further solidifying their status as one of the world’s top men’s doubles teams.
