KUALA LUMPUR, 09 February 2026 — The Badminton World Federation (BWF) has officially confirmed the tournament hosts for its revamped 36-tournament World Tour, spanning from 2027 to 2030. This announcement marks a significant milestone in the BWF’s “bold new plans” for the future of the sport, introducing a more integrated and lucrative global circuit.
A New Six-Level Structure
The upcoming tour cycle will feature a unified structure consisting of six distinct levels:
- BWF World Tour Finals (Host to be announced at a later date)
- Five Super 1000 tournaments
- Five Super 750 tournaments
- Nine Super 500 tournaments
- Eight Super 300 tournaments
- Eight Super 100 tournaments
For the first time, all these tiers will be fully integrated into a single cohesive tour.
Elite Host Cities Confirmed
The BWF has identified the cities that will host the highest-tier events. The prestigious Super 1000 tournaments will be held in:
- Chengdu, China
- Odense, Denmark
- Birmingham, England
- Jakarta, Indonesia
- Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
The Super 750 series will feature stops in Shenzhen (China), Paris (France), Hong Kong, New Delhi (India), and Tokyo (Japan).
Record-Breaking Prize Money
A central component of the 2027–2030 cycle is a substantial increase in prize money across all tournament tiers to better reward athletes:
- Super 1000: Rising to $2,000,000 (up from $1,450,000 in 2026).
- Super 750: Increasing to $1,100,000 (up from $950,000).
- Super 500: Increasing to $560,000 (up from $500,000).
- Super 300: Increasing to $290,000.
- Super 100: Increasing to $140,000.
Enhancing the Fan and Player Experience
Beyond the financial updates, the BWF is implementing several technical and experiential upgrades. Fans can expect a 100 percent increase in TV-produced matches across all levels and the launch of a dedicated OTT platform.
On-court presentation will be modernized with LED A-board technology, while players will benefit from upgraded lounges and facilities. To further engage audiences, the BWF plans to introduce “carnival and festival-style activations” at tournament venues.
These developments are part of a broader partnership between the BWF and Infront, which is set to run from 2027 through 2034, aimed at ushering in “Badminton’s Next Era”.
