The 2022 Finnish Open is an international badminton tournament that will take place at Energia Areena, Vantaa, Finland, from 28 September to 1 October 2022. It has a total prize pool of US$15,000 and is categorized as an International Challenge event.
History
The Finnish Open has been organized 22 times. The first Finnish Open was played in Helsinki in 1990. The tournament has also been organized under Finnish Open International and Finnish International Championships.
Between 1990 and 2008, the host city was Helsinki, and the venue was the Ruskeasuo Sports Hall. Since 2009, the tournament has been organized at Vantaa Energia Areena in Myyrmäki.
In the next four years, the Finnish Open will be upgraded to a BWF World Tour Super 500 event, the only one in Europe. The prize money will also be increased to a minimum of 400,000 US dollars.
