The 2022 Taipei Open (official and sponsored title: Yonex Taipei Open 2022) was an international badminton tournament that took place at Taipei Heping Basketball Gymnasium, Taipei, Taiwan, from 19 to 24 July 2022. It had a total prize pool of US$500,000 and was categorized as a Super 300 event.

  • USA’s Lauren Lam made her second quarterfinal of the year, moving into the last eight of the 2022 Taipei Open with a hard-fought win over Eoon Qi Xuan (MAS).
  • Local stars and men’s doubles third seeds Lu Ching Yao/Yang Po Han fell rather tamely to Malaysian duo Boon Xin Yuan/Wong Tien Ci 21-16 21-11.
  • Mixed doubles third seeds Lee Jhe-Huei/Hsu Ya Ching too fell to Malaysian opponents, losing a thriller to Hoo Pang Ron/Toh Ee Wei 21-23 23-21 21-14.
  • India’s Tanisha Crasto made two quarterfinals, with Ishaan Bhatnagar in mixed doubles and Shruti Mishra in women’s doubles.


  • Saena Kawakami (JPN), the winner in 2017, is through to the last four with a 21-9 12-21 21-16 win over Goh Jin Wei (MAS).
  • Local superstars Chou, Tai Tzu Ying, and Lee Yang/Wang Chi-Lin all progressed with wins over fellow Chinese Taipei shuttlers.


  • Kodai Naraoka of Japan, the finalist of the previous edition of the BWF World Tour in Singapore, won the semi-final match against local talent Lin Chun-yi in two games. He will meet Taiwanese superstar Chou Tien Chen in the final round.
  • Taiwanese Olympic medalists Tai Tzu Ying and duo Lee Yang and Wang Chi-lin managed to the finals. Ying will face Japanese shuttler Saena Kawakami, while Lee and Wang will fight the Malaysian pairs.


  • Three nations: Malaysia, Hong Kong, and the host Taiwan, won the gold medals at the 2022 Taipei Open.
  • Taiwan took men’s and women’s singles titles through their superstars Chou Tien Chen and Tai Tzu Ying. Both players beat the Japanese representatives.
  • Hong Kong took the women’s and mixed doubles titles, while Malaysia took the men’s doubles title.
