DESCRIPTION:Updated on December 15\, 2025\n\n\nThe 2026 Malaysia Open (also known as the Petronas Malaysia Open 2026 for sponsorship reasons) was a major badminton tournament taking place at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur\, Malaysia\, from 6 to 11 January 2026\, comprising singles\, doubles\, and mixed doubles play. It was the 69th edition of the Malaysia Open championships that had been held annually since 1937 and was part of the 2026 Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Tour as a Super 1000 event on 2026 BWF World Tour. The total prize money for this tournament was US$1\,450\,000. \n\n\n\nThe 2026 Malaysia Open was the first Super 1000 event of 2026 as well as the opener of the 2026 BWF World Tour calendar. Shi Yuqi and An Se-young were the defending champions in the men’s singles and women’s singles\, respectively. Both players advanced to the finals\, but only An Se-young successfully defended her title.
