The Arctic Open is an international badminton tournament held in Finland since 1990. Originally known as the Finnish International, the tournament has become an important fixture on the badminton calendar, especially since its rebranding as the Arctic Open in 2023 when it was elevated to the BWF World Tour Super 500 level.

History and Evolution

Founded in 1990, the tournament had intermittent periods of inactivity, with no competitions held in 1994, 1995, and between 1997 and 2001. Despite these interruptions, it has grown into a prestigious event. Since 2023, the Arctic Open is part of the BWF World Tour Super 500 series, attracting top players from across the globe.

Tournament Structure

The tournament features a draw of 32 players in both the singles and doubles categories for men and women, as well as a mixed doubles category. The 2025 edition will take place at the Energia Areena in Vantaa, Finland, with a total prize pool of US$475,000.

It serves as a key stop on the BWF World Tour, offering players a chance to earn valuable ranking points and compete at a high level in the lead-up to other major events.
