Brief history

The Singapore Badminton Association is one of the world’s oldest national governing bodies in the world of badminton. It was founded on 1929, long before the country seceded from the Federation of Malaya.

SBA is a member of the Badminton World Federation and Badminton Asia, and an affiliate of the Singapore National Olympic Council (SNOC).

SBA, which has a total of 32 member clubs, is led by an elected Management Committee headed by its President, Mr. Lawrence Leow, who is also the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Crescendas Group.

SBA organizes one of the oldest badminton tournaments in the world, the Singapore Open, held since 1929. The tournament is part of the BWF World Tour Super 750 event for the 2023-2026 calendar.
