This duo has already demonstrated promise by securing bronze medals in consecutive Olympic Games (2020 and 2024) and clinching Malaysia’s first-ever World Championships gold in 2022.

Herry’s decision to join Malaysia was influenced by the nation’s similarities to Indonesia and the notable progress of its players. He stated, “I had offers from China while Thailand and India had also approached me. But I chose Malaysia as it is a lot like working in Indonesia.” He further observed, “The Malaysian pairs have also improved tremendously and we can see similar playing styles with the Indonesian pairs. There are already a few pairs in the top 20 and this is a big encouragement for me to get to work right away.”

Looking ahead to the Los Angeles 2028 Olympics, Malaysia’s prospects in men’s doubles appear promising. With Herry’s guidance, the goal of clinching the nation’s first Olympic gold in badminton seems attainable. His expertise could be the catalyst that propels Malaysian pairs to the pinnacle of Olympic success.

In conclusion, Herry Iman Pierngadi’s appointment is a strategic move that could redefine Malaysia’s badminton future. His proven coaching methods, combined with the existing talent pool, set the stage for potential historic achievements, including the elusive Olympic gold in men’s doubles.
