Alex Lanier is a talented badminton player from France, born on January 26, 2005, in Caen, France. He began playing badminton at just 3 years old and has been making history in the sport ever since.
Early Career
Lanier joined the Dives-sur-Mer badminton club as a child and later moved to the Strasbourg club in 2019 to compete in national competitions. At the age of 15, he joined INSEP, a prestigious training center in France, to further his skills.
Achievements
Lanier won his first international title at the Lithuanian International in 2021 by defeating Canada’s B.R. Sankeerth. He then secured another title at the Italian International, beating Jan Louda from the Czech Republic. In 2022, he became the European Junior Champion in boys’ singles.
One of his biggest achievements came in 2022 when he won the Canada Open, a BWF Tour Super 100 event, at just 17 years old. In 2024, Lanier made history by winning the Japan Open, a prestigious BWF World Tour Super 750 tournament, becoming the first French player to achieve this feat.
