Japan, Malaysia, Denmark, and Indonesia have all secured their places in the knockout stage after each recording two consecutive victories. They join the ranks of China, Thailand, South Korea, and Chinese Taipei, who had already advanced after Monday’s matches.
These eight formidable teams will now proceed to compete in their final group encounters to determine the seeding for the crucial quarterfinal draw.
A highlight of Tuesday’s action was the intense Group D showdown between Indonesia and India, which saw Indonesia emerge victorious with a 4-1 scoreline. After the teams split the mixed doubles and women’s singles matches, the tie came down to a captivating men’s singles contest. Indonesia’s Jonatan Christie displayed remarkable resilience, recovering from a first-game loss (19-21) to India’s H.S. Prannoy, ultimately clinching the next two games 21-14, 21-12, thus handing Indonesia the decisive lead. The Indonesian team then secured comfortable wins in the subsequent men’s doubles and women’s doubles matches.
In the other Group D fixture, Denmark showcased their dominance with a clean 5-0 sweep against England. Denmark is now set to face Indonesia in their final group match to determine who will emerge as the Group D winner.
Meanwhile, in Group C, Japan demonstrated their strength with an emphatic 5-0 victory over France. Adding a special touch to the day, Japan’s Chiharu Shida celebrated her birthday by partnering with Arisa Igarashi to secure a 2-0 win in the women’s doubles. “I’m very happy to win with my partner today – victory is the best birthday gift,” Shida joyfully commented as reported by Xinhua.
Malaysia also secured their quarterfinal berth with a 4-1 victory over Australia. They are now slated to clash with Japan in their final group match to battle for the top spot in Group C.
