Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia – Nguyễn Thùy Linh, Vietnam’s sole remaining hope at the Malaysia Masters 2025, has successfully advanced to the quarter-finals after a hard-fought victory over Denmark’s Line Christophersen in the Round of 16. Linh triumphed in a gruelling three-game match that lasted an hour and five minutes.

The first game saw a brilliant display from both players, with points going back and forth in a thrilling exchange. Christophersen ultimately claimed the first game 22-20. However, Linh dominated the second game from the outset, leaving Christophersen unable to catch up, and securing it comfortably with a score of 21-11.

The decisive third game was a tight affair, mirroring the intensity of the first, with both athletes showcasing exceptional skill. Linh won the first point, and the players traded blows, vying for supremacy until the interval. After the break, Linh found her rhythm and established a multi-point lead, despite Christophersen’s persistent efforts to equalize, which she managed at 18-18. Nevertheless, Linh held her nerve to close out the game 21-18, securing her spot in the next round.

Quarter-Final Showdown

In the quarter-finals, Linh faces a formidable challenge against the top seed from China, Wang Zhiyi. This will mark the first encounter between the two players.

Linh’s journey to the quarter-finals has been impressive, starting with a notable victory in the first round against India’s P. V. Sindhu, a former World Champion and Olympic silver (Rio 2016) and bronze (Tokyo 2020) medallist.

Linh was a finalist at the 2025 German Open held in late February.
