India finished as the most successful nation with two titles. Denmark, Indonesia, and France each collected one championship.

Men’s Singles: Lakshya Sen Ends Title Drought

India’s Lakshya Sen produced one of his strongest performances of the season to defeat fourth seed and defending champion Jonatan Christie 21–17, 21–10.

The seventh-seeded Indian entered the tournament after six consecutive first-round defeats. His previous final appearance came at the All England Open in March, while his last title was at the Australian Open in November 2025.

However, Sen rediscovered his form in Saarbrücken.

The world No. 14 controlled most of the final. He led Christie 18–10 in the opening game before the Indonesian fought back with seven consecutive points.

Sen recovered to win 21–17 and then dominated the second game, securing the championship 21–10.

The result gave Sen his first title of 2026 and his second victory at this tournament, having previously won in 2019 when it was known as the SaarLorLux Open.

His campaign also included a straight-games semifinal victory over France’s Toma Junior Popov.

Speaking after the final, Sen expressed his satisfaction at finally returning to winning form.

“It’s been quite some time since I’ve won a tournament,” he said.

For Christie, the defeat ended his hopes of winning consecutive HYLO Open titles. The Indonesian had reached the final after Anders Antonsen retired from their semifinal.

Women’s Singles: PV Sindhu Claims Second Title of 2026

India’s P. V. Sindhu completed her country’s singles double with a comfortable 21–12, 21–14 victory over eighth seed Line Kjærsfeldt.

The two-time Olympic medalist controlled the final from the beginning, giving her Danish opponent few opportunities to establish a rhythm.

It was Sindhu’s first HYLO Open title and her second tournament victory of 2026, following her Japan Open triumph in July.

She had reached the final after defeating compatriot Anmol Kharb 21–13, 21–16 in the semifinals.

Kjærsfeldt also enjoyed an impressive tournament. She eliminated top seed Pornpawee Chochuwong in a dramatic semifinal, recovering from an opening-game defeat to win 8–21, 21–19, 28–26.

The Dane saved four match points during that contest.

However, she could not reproduce the same performance against Sindhu.

After winning the title, Sindhu thanked her team for supporting her through difficult periods and said the victory provided an important confidence boost.

The result also made her the first Indian woman to capture the HYLO Open singles title.

Men’s Doubles: Kjær and Kjær Celebrate First World Tour Title

Denmark’s Christian Faust Kjær and Rasmus Kjær achieved the biggest victory of their partnership by defeating England’s second seeds Ben Lane and Sean Vendy 21–14, 21–18.

The unseeded Danish pair played confidently throughout the final, overcoming the experienced European champions in straight games.

Their victory represented their first BWF World Tour title together.

The Danes had already demonstrated their potential in the semifinals, where they defeated Malaysia’s Aaron Tai and Yap Roy King in three games.

According to Badminton Denmark, the pair were delighted with their performance after a demanding week.

Christian Faust Kjær described winning a tournament of this level as the realization of an important ambition.

For Lane and Vendy, the result meant another runner-up finish despite entering the tournament as one of the leading favorites.

Denmark’s victory was particularly significant because three Danish entries competed in the finals, but Kjær and Kjær were the country’s only champions.

Women’s Doubles: Pratiwi and Ramadhanti Secure Indonesia’s Only Title

Indonesia’s Amallia Cahaya Pratiwi and Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti defeated top seeds Hsu Yin-hui and Lin Jhih-yun of Chinese Taipei 21–18, 21–19 to win the women’s doubles championship.

The fifth-seeded Indonesian pair delivered a composed performance against the highest-ranked partnership in the draw.

They maintained their attacking pressure throughout the match and secured the victory in straight games.

The championship was their first since winning the Thailand Masters in February 2026.

It also marked a welcome return to the top of the podium after several months without a tournament title.

The Indonesian pair reached the final after defeating Bulgaria’s Gabriela Stoeva and Stefani Stoeva 21–16, 24–22 in the semifinals.

Their success gave Indonesia one title from two final appearances in Saarbrücken.

Although Jonatan Christie lost the men’s singles final, Pratiwi and Ramadhanti ensured that Indonesia finished the tournament with a championship.

Mixed Doubles: Gicquel and Delrue Win Three-Game Thriller

The mixed doubles final was the closest contest of the day.

France’s world champions Thom Gicquel and Delphine Delrue came from behind to defeat Denmark’s Jesper Toft and Amalie Cecilie Kudsk 19–21, 22–20, 21–18.

The Danish pair took the opening game 21–19 and pushed the French favorites to the limit in the second.

However, Gicquel and Delrue held their nerve to win 22–20 before taking the deciding game 21–18.

The victory gave France its only title of the tournament.

For Toft and Kudsk, reaching the final represented an encouraging result for their partnership, which was established in 2026.

The Danish pair had previously defeated Indonesia’s Amri Syahnawi and Nita Violina Marwah in a closely contested semifinal, winning 21–23, 21–12, 22–20.

Despite falling short in the final, their performance showed their potential against some of the world’s strongest mixed doubles partnerships.
