The 2024 Malaysia Open (official and sponsored title: Petronas Malaysia Open 2024) is an international badminton tournament that will take place at the Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, from 9 to 14 January 2024. The tournament is part of the BWF World Tour Super 1000 series on the 2024 BWF World Tour, with a total prize pool of US$1,300,000.
The 2024 Malaysia Open is the inaugural tournament on the 2024 BWF World Tour calendar. The Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) organizes the tournament with sanctions from the Badminton World Federation (BWF).
Viktor Axelsen and Akane Yamaguchi are the reigning champions in men’s singles and women’s singles, respectively.

The 2024 Malaysia Open consists of five events: men’s and women’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles, and mixed doubles. Each event consists of a main draw with a knockout system involving a maximum of 32 participants. No qualifying rounds were held for this tournament. The list of participants was determined based on the world rankings released on Tuesday, 28 November 2023 and the seeding was determined based on the world rankings released on Tuesday, 12 December 2023.

Competition schedule
The 2024 Malaysia Open will be held over six days, from Tuesday 9 January to Sunday 14 January. The preliminary rounds will be held on the first three days. The next three days will involve competition in the quarter-finals, semi-finals, and finals, respectively. Television broadcasts will start from the first day of the tournament.

Prize money
