The 2025 Oceania Badminton Championships will be held in Auckland, New Zealand, from February 10 to February 16, 2025. The winning team of the Mixed Team Championships will earn the right to represent Oceania at the Sudirman Cup Finals in China in April 2025. Additionally, the winning team will receive a travel subsidy of NZD 5,000 from the Badminton Oceania Confederation (BOC) to assist with their travel expenses to the Sudirman Cup Finals.

Eligibility and Regulations

To be eligible to compete, players must hold a passport from the country they are representing or have held a BWF number for the Oceania Member Association (MA) they are representing for at least three years prior to the championships. Entry and Withdrawal Details

  • Mixed Team Championships: Entries close on November 26, 2024, at 23:59 GMT+8.
  • Individual Championships: Entries close on January 14, 2025, at 23:59 GMT+8.

Teams withdrawing within six weeks of the tournament will incur a withdrawal fee of USD 750. For the Individual Championships, the last date for withdrawal without penalty is February 3, 2025. Any withdrawals after this date will incur a penalty of USD 250.

Accommodation and Transport

Teams and players are responsible for booking their own accommodation. The official accommodation providers are Sunrise Garden Albany and Ramada Albany, with various room options available. Teams and players staying at the official accommodation will be eligible for complimentary airport transfers and transport between the accommodation and the tournament venue. Teams may also be provided with a self-drive mini-van, provided the driver holds a current driver’s license and is over 25 years old.

Travel and Visas

The closest international airport is Auckland International Airport. All travel, visas, and travel insurance are the responsibility of the Member Associations. Visa support letters can be requested by completing the Visa Request Form by January 14, 2025. It is highly recommended to apply for visas as early as possible, as the process may take several weeks.

Anti-Doping and Integrity

The tournament will enforce strict anti-doping regulations in accordance with the BWF Anti-Doping Regulations. Athletes are responsible for any substances found in their bodies and are advised to check with their doctors before taking any medication. The tournament also adheres to the BWF Code on the Prevention of the Manipulation of Competitions, which prohibits betting on badminton matches and any attempts to influence the outcome of games.
