The Denmark Open (historically known as the Danish Open) is one of badminton’s oldest and most prestigious annual tournaments.First established in 1935 and organized by Badminton Denmark, the event features a rich history that has seen it hosted across various Danish cities—including Copenhagen and Aalborg—before settling into its long-term home in Odense.
As the international circuit evolved, the tournament remained at the forefront of elite competition:
- BWF Super Series (2011–2017):Under the previous Badminton World Federation structure, the tournament was classified as a Super Series event.
- BWF World Tour Super 750 (2018–2026):With the introduction of the BWF World Tour structure in 2018, the Denmark Open was designated as one of the elite Super 750 tournaments.
Looking Ahead: BWF Super 1000 Upgrade (Starting 2027)
Beginning with the 2027–2030 BWF World Tour cycle, the Badminton World Federation officially promoted the Denmark Open to Super 1000 status.Joining top-tier events like the All England Open, Indonesia Open, China Open, and Malaysia Open, this upgrade elevates the tournament to the absolute pinnacle of the tour. As a Super 1000 event, the Denmark Open will offer:
- Higher Prize Money: A minimum prize pool raised to $2.0 million USD.
- Maximum Ranking Points:The maximum allotment of world-ranking points for champions (12,000+ points).
- Top-Tier Field:Mandatory participation requirements for the world’s top-ranked singles players and doubles pairs.

Provisional Schedule
Six days of competition are scheduled at SJF Bank Arena, beginning with the first round on Tuesday and ending with five championship finals on Sunday.
Tuesday
Opening-day matches from the top half of the draws across all events.
Wednesday
The remaining first-round matches are played across three competition courts.
Thursday
Round-of-16 action determines the quarterfinalists in all five disciplines.
Friday
The final eight players or pairs in each discipline compete for semifinal places.
Saturday
The tournament moves to one competition court as the finalists are decided.
Sunday
Five champions will be crowned on the final day of the VICTOR Denmark Open.
The competition schedule is provisional and may be subject to change.
Denmark Open 2026 Prize Money
The US$950,000 prize fund will be distributed in accordance with BWF Statute 5.3.5.
Tournament information states that no tax deduction will be applied to prize money.
